Rainsong Sea Turtle Protection Project
Olive Ridley
The Rainsong Sea Turtle Protection Project is a community project that both provides economic opportunities for the citizens of an isolated community in Manzanillo, Costa Rica, and also creates ambassadors for sea turtle protection. The project focuses on the patrol of four miles of remote beach from the town of Manzanillo to the Bongo River where the endangered leatherback sea turtle, the hawksbill turtle and the olive ridley make their nests. Funds donated to this project go directly to the people involved in sea turtle patrols and the protection of these three species of sea turtles. It has been estimated that there are only 3,000 leatherback turtles left in the Eastern Pacific and many of these giant pelagic reptiles come to Costa Rica's beaches to lay their eggs. The leatherback and hawksbill turtles are in a critical stage of survival right now and we need your help to ensure the continuity of this species. You can help us protect the world's largest reptile by donating to Rainsong's project today!!!
We are looking for volunteers to help patrol and rescue eggs from predators. You can volunteer with this program for only $10/day plus food cost! Contact us today at: costaricaanimalrescue_gmail.com
